converting old rule javelins

Only about 5% of the old rule javelins have a tail section large enough to allow them to be converted to new rule.
This involves a new, heavier point , removal of some weight from the tail and replacing the grip several cms ahead of it's original location. The cost is about $100. Most old rule javelins have a tail section that is too small to conform to the new rules and even though the balance and grip are changed and they fly very much like a new rule implement they will not pass inspection at major meets.
The above applies only to 800 gm implements. About 50 or 60% of the old rule 600 gm implements can be converted so they are practical candidates for conversion. They can be sent to OTE who will check them and tell you which ones can be converted. In the past OTE has had specials on conversion during the summer months when the plant is not running at full capacity. Check with Dan West at 541 345 9469. He has been running OTE since I retired about two years ago.
